CHELSEY

Title:
Workshop Coordinator/ Employment and Career Advisor

Education:
Social Work Diploma
Education Assistant Certificate

Program responsibilities:
I present career, employment, and life skills workshops to schools and organizations in the Medicine Hat area.

First job I ever had:
Well... I am a Saskatchewan farm kid, so I guess you could classify my “first” job as a farm labourer. (Despite the fact that I have two brothers and they did most of the work!)  My first “off-the-farm” job was working at a Concession Booth at a Regional Park- flipping burgers and serving ice cream.

Top tip for youth searching for a job:
Leave your friends at home!  Job searching with a friend in tow does little to highlight your independence- not a good impression...

What I thought I would be when I grew up:
I wanted to be either a hairdresser or an artist just like my mom- however I have zero talent as an artist and a phobia of hair... after that, I decided that I wanted to work in the school system.

Top tip for career decision making:
Stick with what you love... generally there is a career that encompasses every interest

A job that I would love to “test drive” would be…..
I have always wanted to be on a movie set, doing special-effects make-up

One “thing” I am most proud of is……
I am proud to say that my best friends from kindergarten are still my best friends today.

One thing most people don’t know about me…….
I once won a race leading a llama in one hand and carrying an egg on a spoon in the other.

Things I like to do in my spare time are:
What is spare time? Well... I am a book hound!  I also love to cook, eat, catch up with friends, and just chillax with my husband and puppy.

The one person I would love to have lunch with is…..
My mom... she usually foots the bill.
