WINTER GROUP FITNESS CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

 

Wondering which class is for you? Our guide to classes will help you make an informed decision about the sessions that are right for you. So before you go, check your heart rate!

Aquafit ©
Join us in the pool for a fantastic full-body workout that is perfect for everyone. Aquafit is a low-impact workout focusing on cardiovascular training and weight bearing exercise using the resistance of the water, and is a great addition to your land based workouts.

 

Balls and Bands ©©
Add a new dimension to your strength training workouts by using the stability ball and resistance bands. Core strength, flexibility, balance and muscle tone are sure to increase as a result.

 

Beginner Fusion Yoga ©
Unwind and soothe your body with a beautifully flowing combination of yoga positions. This practice calms your heart and reinforces an internal connection between mind, body & spirit. Strength and balance will be reinforced and the open space within your body will be explored to enhance healing and improve self-confidence and inner balance.

 

Belly Dancing Choreography ©
Discover your sensual side in this fantastic session that requires no previous dance experience. Participants will learn basic belly dance isolations, combinations and an original choreography. Learn the physical, mental and spiritual benefits of this ancient dance form. This class is one hour in length. A half-hour advanced Belly Dance choreography class follows. Registration is required for both.

 

Belly Dancing Fitness ©
Check out this exercise focused class consisting of light aerobic and muscle isolation moves to target your core and physical health.  Perfect for those who prefer no choreography, but still want all the benefits of belly dancing.  Registration is not required, drop in welcome!

 

Bootcamp ©©
Variety is the focus in bootcamp with drills and intervals combined to create an invigorating total body workout. A variety of equipment is used to ensure an action-packed workout that is non-choreographed, challenging and always fresh!

 

Box’n’Core ©©
Box’n’Core is a fantastic combination of kickboxing skills and core strengthening. You will notice improved aerobic stamina, core strength and endurance, balance, and agility that will be useful in all aspects of life.

 

Core & Stretch ©
This intensive core conditioning class will target your entire core and wrap up with an invigorating full-body stretch.

 

Cardio Collection ©©
Step, hi-lo, kickboxing, intervals, and bootcamp exercises are all included in this fun, action-packed workout.  This session is easy to follow and provides lots of options that will leave you feeling energized and empowered.

 

Cycling ©©
Cycling is for everyone!  Completely choreography free, cycling is easy to follow, and an excellent cardiovascular workout.  Riders will mimic a variety of trail and road rides and you will be encouraged to work at your own pace.

 

Early Morning Spin ©©
Energize your day with a fantastic early morning spin! Understand the biomechanics of spinning while maintaining your cardio strength and leg endurance during these engaging rides that will challenge you and prepare you for those thrilling outdoor rides.

 

Fusion Yoga ©©
Fusion Yoga combines the benefits of yoga in a challenging sequence to generate heat and strength. The physical body in yoga combines with the mental and spiritual body to create a unique wellness experience.  You will leave this session stronger in body, mind and spirit and with improved flexibility and greater relaxation.

 

Gentle Yoga ©
Ease into yoga with Gentle Yoga.  The use of props and modifications ensure comfort in the poses.  This practice is great for those with limited range of motion or new to yoga.

 

Hatha Yoga ©
This popular form of yoga focuses on uniting pairs of opposites, and the body & mind.  Balancing through physical poses, breathing techniques, and meditation the subtle spiritual elements of the mind will be freed.

 

Hula-Hoop Fitness ©
It’s all about fun in this new fitness class using hoola-hoops! Energizing music combined with a variety of hooping moves will give you the toning and core strengthening results you are looking for in an exciting workout environment. Join the hooping revolution!

 

Iyengar Yoga ©
This unique form of Hatha Yoga is known for its use of props as aids in performing asanas (postures). The props enable students to perform the asanas correctly, minimizing the risk of injury or strain, and making the postures accessible to both young and old. The development of strength, mobility, and stability are emphasized through this practice.

 

Kickboxing Fusion ©©
Fuse your cardiovascular and strength training workouts into this time-efficient session that will challenge your entire body. You will start with kickboxing combinations, move into strength and muscle conditioning, and complete your workout with a relaxing and healthy stretch.

 

Kitchen Sink ©
Just like the name this class has everything but......spicy step, weights, gliders, ball, tubes, hoops, hi/lo and pump with any combination of these together with music to get you flying through the hour! This class is suitable for the beginner to advanced and beyond as moves are broken down for ease of learning and confidence building in your personal workout.

 

Kripalu Yoga ©
Let’s explore out body’s finer workings.  Learn what muscles need to be activated to hold certain postures for correct alignment.  Meditation is included at the end of each class.

 

Muscle Kick ©©
Kick up your muscle tone in this combination class that features kickboxing cardio combos with the strength training exercises you love in our Target Toning classes! Feel the energy during and after this class – you will be back for more!


Open Orientation
©
Learn the basics of the weight room and how to safely and effectively use the variety of equipment available to you. This session is free with your membership and is on a first-come, first-served basis. Maximum of 10 people per session.


Power Spin ©©©
This intensive class is designed for those that wish to identify training gaps, know their recovery range, change from heart rate based training to power based training and learn personal strengths and weaknesses.  You will increase power in pedal strokes so that you are not left behind on those biking trails!

 

 

 

Power Yoga ©©
A heat based form of yoga; the body moves from one pose to another in a specific sequence to create heat within the body.  This challenging practice will present you with opportunities to build strength and increase flexibility and is designed for those with some yoga experience.

 

S.T.P!! (Step, Tone & Pump) ©
This is not your ordinary class!  This class incorporates Zumba and hi-lo choreography into a routine focused on step and resistance training. You will be motivated by the fun environment and exciting music!

 

Step Interval ©©
Jazz up your step with cardio and strength intervals to increase intensity, improve strength, and add a new dynamic to your workout routine.

 

Super Step ©©©
Step it up a notch in this high-intensity class that will challenge your body and mind! The session will focus on advanced choreography options and present many options that will challenge you along the way!

 

Tabata Bootcamp ©©©
This high impact, high intensity cardio class focuses on 10 exercises per class. You will be encouraged to work at your own pace, while challenging your cardio intensity. Focus will be on effective execution of exercises and a lot of fun!

 

Target Toning ©©
Muscular strength and endurance are the focus in this session that emphasizes proper technique and progression for ultimate results. Equipment may include dumbbells, resistance bands, medicine balls, body bars and body weight.

 

TRX ©©
TRX Suspension Training integrates every aspect of functional conditioning into a single station.  Whether for sport-specific training, routine conditioning, or physical rehabilitation, the TRX enables hundreds of exercises and progressions for every body part- using nothing but the exerciser’s own body weight to generate resistance.

  

WHOGA © (Wellness, Happiness, Opportunity for Gentle Activity)
Discover the restorative and healing power of yoga in a peaceful group environment focusing on individuals recovering from stroke and those who are wheelchair active. Your leader will guide you through a series of functional poses followed by a calming relaxation. Registration is required.

 

ZUMBA ©
Zumba classes feature exotic rhythms set to high-energy Latin and international beats. Before you know it, you’re getting fit & energy levels are up. There’s no other fitness class like a Zumba Fitness-Party. It’s great for all ages, effective and totally exhilarating, building a deep-rooted community among returning students.
