Volunteering Help Build your community, Share your Talents, and Improve your skills YMCA volunteers are a vital part of our not-for-profit organization and are the backbone of many programs and services that we provide. Volunteers enable the YMCA to provide our community with extensive services and programs. Volunteers provide essential assistance in the administration of our YMCA, serve on committees and work with staff to meet the needs of our members. Many volunteers learn skills at the YMCA which they then take to the community at large for the benefit of more people. Volunteer Roles
Volunteer Guidelines The Downtown YMCA will recognize the contribution of active volunteers through special events, skill development training, program in-services and membership privileges based on the following guidelines: A volunteer must contribute 2 hrs per week, 8 hours per month, or as determined by their volunteer contact. Some volunteer positions require that you have a criminal records check done. Please talk to the director in charge of the area you will be volunteering for. If you are interested in applying for a volunteer position at the Medicine Hat YMCA, please complete a volunteer application form, attach a current resume, and return it to our front desk or to the staff member responsible for the volunteer area you are applying for. Please note that we are looking for volunteers in a wide variety of expertise and skill. If you are familiar with plant operations, welding, air conditioners, heating systems, pool operations, outside maintenance we would love to have you share your talents with us!
